5 Perfect Post Surf Smoothie Recipes

I feel like smoothies and surfing just naturally go together. I'm not sure why, but nonetheless, they are awesome and if you are like me and are super lazy when it comes to food prep, then the idea of fuelling your body with as many nutrients as possible with the click of the fingers is a very attractive thought.

There are so many smoothie recipes out there you could drown in them. I have spent many years, in many different countries, road testing smoothies, some successful, some not. Over the years I have come up with a criteria in which my home made smoothies must fit into. They need to…

1. Taste really good. (I want a healthy smoothie that I don’t have to convince myself tastes good, it just simply does.)

2. Have basic ingredients that you will find in your pantry (or can easily be purchased - i.e. not having to treck to the most exclusive whole food and organic stores.)

3. Be supportive in my performance or recovery from surfing. I eat enough naughty food that doesn’t serve my surfing, and smoothies will not be one of them.

So without further a due, here are 5 simple, delicious, and surf supportive smoothie recipes that I have discovered over time and eat on the regular. Please note - all of these recipes are vegan, but you can change them to include normal milk if you prefer.

I am a super big fan of Nuzest protein and always have been. I usually add protein powders to my smoothies as I like how it thickens them up and keeps me full until the next meal.

Anyone that has tried protein powder knows the struggle of finding one that actually tastes palatable, and I can happily confirm that Nuzest is actually really good.

I like them enough that I have managed to score 15% off all orders for The Surf Box community. Just head to the Nuzest site and use the code “surfbox” at check out :)

If you make any of these smoothies, please take a photo and tag _thesurfbox_ on Instagram. I would love to see if you enjoy them as much as I do.
